R (Residential): The purpose of the Residential District is to provide locations for a wide variety of residential development uses including single family dwellings, multiple family dwellings, group homes, room and boarding facilities, and temporary lodging, such as B&Bs. Small home-based businesses that can be operated out of a portion of the house or accessory building such as a garage are also allowed.

ALL THAT CERTAIN PLOT, PIECE OR PARCEL OF LAND, with the buildings and improvements thereon erected, situate on the westerly side of North Main Street in the Village of Port Henry, Essex County, New York, which was conveyed to Eros D. Brooks, by Catherine McGinn, and others by deed dated February 2, 1892 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County of Essex on March 3, 1892 in Book 102 of Deeds at page 478 to which deed reference is made for a further description of the premises hereby intended to be conveyed. The said plot of land being bounded generally as follows: Northerly by Lock Lane and premises now or formerly of Port Henry Telephone Company, westerly by premises now or formerly of Port Henry Telephone Company, southerly by premises formerly known as the "Frank Bridge Place" and easterly by North Main Street.
